Good for four or five years
We really liked the model 677 when it was gifted to us, so much that we bought a second one. We have used on or the other daily for the past 4-5 years. One has been getting noisier and noisier, the other has just stopped turning off automatically. De-calcifying the noisy one did not cure the problem. We will try combining them into one good working pot. Maybe five years is a good lifetime for these things.
Update: the one that we thought was not turning off seems to merely be taking a bit longer, still acceptably fast. You really buy these to be sure of the cut-off, so they don't boil dry. Once they are off they stay off. Have upgraded to four stars.
