Bought two of them.
I liked the first one so much I got a second one for my office. It took awhile to figure out the correct amount of time in the microwave. They tell you to start with 90 seconds and then go up or down. 90 was way high. I ended up at 55 after several trail and error experiments. I suggest you do this with only water and no coffee.
B&D Mio EE100 Espresso Maker
Cute idea but not very practical. Operates similar to electric, or stove top, "pressure" coffee makers - water is heated until sufficient steam accumulates to push water through the grinds. In case of Mio EE 100, which operates in microwave oven if is difficult to estimate how much time it should remain in the oven as different microwave ovens put out different amounts of energy so brew time is variable when using it for travel. Another drawback is that its brewing, any coffee already pushed to the top is also over heated by microwaves passing through it thus overheating the brew. Technically, this is potentially a strong coffee maker, not espresso maker. As with all similar steam pressure system coffee makers it is incapable of forming crema - ultimate goal of any good or even half decent espresso maker which require 15 or more bars of pressure. After brewing a cup, there is sufficient pressure still left inside making it very difficult to open, clean and make subsequent...
My own little cappuchino machine -- in the microwave!
Who knew I could have a fresh-brewed cappuchino or expresso whenever I wanted one, at home or in the office, in two minutes flat in the microwave, for pennies a serving?
More delicious than Starbucks, at a tenth of the price.
Pretty easy to use, too, if you follow the directions.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, and that heavenly smell of fresh brewed expresso or cappuchino from my microwave!
I love espresso and use this while traveling. It took a little practice to come up with the right grind and quantity but I can micro a better espresso than I can get from most baristas (except when traveling in Italy or France).
