Excellent brewer!
Terrific coffee maker! This is my third in about two months -- my quest to replace a Senseo Supreme -- see my previous review of the Bunn for further account of my tribulations.
Cutting to the bottom line: I still think I prefer the Senseo Supreme, but this is certainly a worthy alternate. The only reason I did not go with a new Senseo is that a LOT of recent reviews complained about a very bad plastic smell/taste, and associated this with a new manufacturer in the last year.
Comparison to Senseo:
General: Good high pressure, high temp brew. Reservoir, not pour as you go. Gives the same nice foamy top as the Senseo.
Better: Accepts a bigger variety of pod sizes/brands without complaint. The Senseo could be a little finicky about non-Senseo pods. Gives the pod a short "opening blast" to prime it before the full cup.
Not better: Only accepts one pod at a time; I miss being able to do an extra-large or extra-strong cup all at one...
Even better than I thought it would be!!!!
First of all, before buying this brewer I read the reviews and made my decision to buy this brewer despite some of the shortcomings I read about online. One review that I found helpful was from an independent source that reviews single serve brewers. Here is a link to the review: [...]
Let me just say that this is the bet pod brewer I've found on the market. I've owned a few through the years and I know a good cup when I taste one. This brewer produces great pressure and the water is 178 degrees coming out which gives you better flavor extraction. Traditionally my family uses a manual drip brewer made by Chemex and we use fresh roasted coffee roasted here in town. We had company coming to the house so we wanted a way to make cups more easily throughout the morning as people wanted coffee. We bought a variety of pods and it took them all without a problem. Based on a review on Amazon I thought I would have trouble fitting travel mugs and odd shaped mugs onto the try...
This is the best Pod Coffee Maker on the market
I have been using this coffee maker for both coffee and tea. Wow. Wow. Wow. It uses pressure for a real, full extraction of coffee. This is by far the best Pod brewer on the market and for that matter the best single cup brewer available. You can adjust how much coffee or tea you want, depending on the strength of coffee you would like. We use it mostly at 9oz. You can do 5, 8, 9, 10 and 12oz. Also, my wife loves the look of it. The other thing we love is that when you use the pods, unlike the k-cups which go into the garbage and never go away, these are totally biodegradable.
