Aroma ABD-520BD 1-1/2-Liter Smart Multi-Speed Blender

Surprisingly Good . . . for a year
I've bought 2 other dispenser-type blenders: Back to Basics SHP1000 Smoothie Professional Smoothie Maker and Hamilton Beach 53257 Wavestation Plus Dispensing Blender with 48-Ounce Jar, Black and Silver. Using them almost daily to make my Stevia-sweetened, blended espresso, milk, vanilla "Frappacinos," each lasted less than 1 year and started leaking into the base and smoking before it ended up in the dumpster. Not wanting to buy the same blenders I'd tried before, I decided on the Aroma. It's surprisingly different and effective. There is no rubber seal in the base, but easily fits onto the base and does not leak. The lid, which does have a seal, needed me reading the instructions to figure out how to put it on, but once I did it, it's simple and seals well. I didn't think I'd use the "timer program," but I can push that button, and walk away from the blender. It cycles through turning off and on for a minute, allowing the ice cubes to crush without over-heating the machine...

It's a cool blender.
A couple of things about this order. It came exactly as the seller said it would. It was in it's original box with a manual. It had just a couple of pieces that needed to be put together such as the mouth spout but that was very simple.

Now about the blender itself. The pitcher is made out of plastic which I don't mind. That makes it very light to pick up verses the old glass one I'm accustomed to. It took me a bit to figure it out, but the blender is also made with safety in mind. You cannot turn on the blender until you have all the pieces in place. It simply just won't turn on. Originally I thought it was broken :), but I really like this feature.

Things I don't like about the blender are because it only turns on by having all the pieces in place, if you want to poor out of the pitcher you have to remove the clear stop, and the cover. Of course there is the spout, but if your shake/smoothie is too thick, it'll take a while to pour out from there...
